Rocamadour for example, the famous pilgrim town built against the rocks; the old Roman town of Cahors, well known for its ‘black wine’, or Sarlat, a charming medieval town, frequently seen in many French and international films. And then there’s Souillac itself, ‘the gateway to the South’, with its charming, atmospheric streets criss-crossing the old town, and the characteristic abbey church. The local French cuisine enjoys an excellent reputation and the river Dordogne provides a wonderful backdrop for a family pick nick combined with lots of sizzling summer water fun. A great place to start your holidays in France!
